According to Nielsen’s statistics, the number of viewers of the Super Bowl this year increased by 6% compared with last year (95.2 million). Additionally, the divisional playoffs saw a 20 percent increase in viewership over last year, and the league championship game saw a 10 percent increase.
The halftime show featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary K. Blige, and others was also well-received. NBC said 11.2 million people watched the game live online. Cincinnati is the city with the largest share of Super Bowl viewers in the U.S. Detroit, where Matthew Stafford previously played, was second, and Los Angeles didn’t make the top 10.
The most-watched Super Bowl ever was the Seattle Seahawks-New England Patriots game, with 114.4 million viewers that year.
