On Friday, the Houston Texans will re-sign running back Rex Burkhead, extending Rex Burkhead’s contract through the end of the 2022 season.
Rex Burkhead, 31, signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Houston Texans in June. Rex Burkhead has appeared in 15 games this season, rushing 110 times for 403 yards and three touchdowns. Rex Burkhead took the top spot in Week 11, rushing 103 times over the past seven weeks.
Coach David Culley previously said: “Consistency is synonymous with Rex Burkhead. Rex Burkhead knows how to play.”
Rex Burkhead rushes 22 times for 149 yards (career record) and 2 touchdowns in Week 16 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Houston Texans started the season with five running backs on the roster, but then Mark Ingram II was traded to the New Orleans Saints, Phillip Lindsay was cut, and Scottie Phillips was injured.
