Most of the time, the NFL regular season MVP awards will be collected by quarterbacks or running backs. The last time a defensive player won the MVP award, it dates back to Lawrence Taylor in 1986.
But Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger believes that teammate T.J. Watt is worthy of MVP votes.
“I don’t know anyone besides TJ Watt who can be the defensive player of the year. I know there must be other candidates I don’t know, but TJ Watt deserves the MVP vote because TJ Watt is the same player as the MVP.” Ben Roethlisberger Express.
T.J. Watt completed 3.5 sacks in the game last Sunday, setting a career high. T.J. Watt has completed 16 sacks this season, ranking first in the league temporarily, and has the hope of challenging the record (22.5 times).
“I have been teammates with players like Troy Polamalu and they have the ability to change the game. This is not common in defense. Defensive players who have the ability to change the game are very unique. TJ Watt deserves more than the Defensive Player of the Year. Honor.” Ben Roethlisberger said.
